My name is Jessica Larkwood, and I am the founder, owner, and editor at insolera.net. Who doesn’t love desserts? I certainly do! Desserts are the one course I always look forward to when dining out. My sweet tooth always gets the better of me, and with so many delightful desserts out there, I can’t resist trying them all. That’s why I decided to gather, compile, and share all the desserts I’ve tasted from around the country on this blog.
Many people avoid desserts due to their sugar content, fearing health issues like obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay. But did you know that sweet foods aren’t inherently bad? It’s all about moderation. A little sweetness in your life now and then won’t hurt, right?
Some believe sugary foods can cause various health problems, which is why some parents restrict their children from eating sweets to prevent tooth decay. However, sweet foods don’t always cause disease.
Interestingly, sweet foods can improve cognitive functions. Glucose is the brain’s fuel, enhancing memory, thought processes, and concentration. When the body’s glucose stores are depleted, it turns to fat and protein for energy. Once those are exhausted, the body uses muscle for energy, leading to weakness, fatigue, and poor concentration.
I need desserts not only for enjoyment but also to boost my cognitive abilities, especially given my demanding job in the marketing department that requires me to travel across the country. You’ll likely find your state’s unique desserts featured on my blog. Feel free to suggest desserts I should try in your area!
